Yes AlanD that's true and was the next point I was going to make. I was more on the nurture side of the argument until I picked up a book about 6 years ago called "Twins: Genes, Environment and The Mystery of Identity". It is about studies of identical twins reared apart and such studies have shown that genes play a major role in how people develop. Admitedly the book is more about psychological outcomes than physiological ones. However it does go into that too. Also there have been some amazing findings for instance that twins reared apart often have the same likes and dislikes in terms of food, marry people with the same names and call their children the same names. How do we explain this? We don't know yet but proponents on the nature side of the debating fence say that genes determine what you like and don't like, for instance, fatty foods!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So genes could be responsible not only for body size, gaining weight more easily but also for liking chocolate and of course addictive personalities.

Also this began by a comment that it was pathetic to suggest that my slim build is a genetic trait. I didn't suggest that if I eat tons of food I won't get fatter. I can have a lot more fat on me and be lighter in weight and look thinner than people who have less fat and weigh more. That is because of my genes! I wasn't talking about amount of fat but the appearance of being skinny.

go the skinnies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
