Kerro: This forum hosts many familiar names and faces. The climbing community is quite small. But I
guess, each to their own.

Also, I liked the earlier post mentioning that the way a person cares, maintains and handles their
equipment is an indication of their vlues or personality and professionalism (bad choice of words??) in
climbing.

Watching climbers manage ropes and gear whilst climbing indicates an awareness of all aspects of
climbing. It's another level of climbing, It's a beautiful thing to watch. If a climber is aware of their
second and protects a traverse accordingly that is a good climber. A good climber is also someone
who can belay well - know what is going on in th e climbiers head and belay according, good climbers
are not just about people who can push grades me thinks.

As for belays by strangers, it's a hard one. maybe you could ask them how they belay and adjust it if
there is anything you disagree with.
