I would guess that if there are small bits of glass cutting into fibres when you load it, you would eventually start to feel a slight soft spot in the core. I would keep using it but inspect it every time for a while checking for damage esp soft spots in the core. As Kieran says, its your call but if it scares you then replace it (or give it to Neil for "testing").
