This debate that rages on about trad vs sport, which is the more noble pursuit? Who is more talented?
Why is there such rivalry?

Let me ask a question, what about reversing your scenario; instead of '...wonder[ing] how well they
could climb on trad, where you need to be a 'real' climber... [and] you need to know how to place
gear, trust it, etc...' What if you said; I wonder how well those trad climbers could climb sport, where
placing quickdraws requires you to take one hand off the rock that has hardly any features on it
whatsoever, hanging from a wall that is 90 degrees off verticle.'

Anyway, how many grade 31's and above are trad climbs?

And another thing, who's to say that these young'ns aren't capable of leading trad. I assume that if that
can crimp on a 31+ move then they must have some ability (or ability to adapt to) the new skill of
placing gear.
