I don't think a pruned branch here and there is going to make much difference environmentally. An ants nest can cause more damage. So I agree with Neil on that point.

But leaving ladders and saws around leaves a bad impression and shows a disrespect for the environment and law. Perceptions are important. As long as it is made clear to Parks that this is not common and is actively discouraged amongst the climbing community, I think it would be a gross over-reaction on their part to ban climbing.

Heavily trafficed areas can be easily degraded over a long period by small contributions from many visitors and these areas can have trouble recovering. But I take it they are not trying to release these wallabies in the middle of summerday valley.
