I just read the www.8a.nu news and numbers, and most of the hard sends currently in the news are by youth. For example - Adam Ondra has just onsighted his fifth 8b (grade 31) at age 12! Charlotte Durif onsighted her first 8b at age 14! Cicada Jenerik sent The Kind Traverse, 8A (V11) at age 11! David Lama sending an 8c and 8b+ in 3 and two tries still at the young age of 15! It's appears climbing is going the way of gymnastics, where the top athletes are still all teenagers!! Currently the minimum age to compete in ICC open events is 16, but it looks like if the minimum age was removed that the youth would give the open competitors a work out!
