One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen was some girl leading a grade15 (only a couple of grades below her green point) with a fairly intimidating overhung crux. At about 15 m she was reminded by her belayer that she should probably put some gear in. She ended up doing the climb with only 2 pieces of gear. When asked why, she informed her belayer that he’d told her that leading was just like top-roping and she doesn’t place gear when she top-ropes…
