A question of ethics and camp ground courtesy. Ever since I turned up at Arapiles as part of a TAFE group it was made clear to me by my leader that large student groups used the north campground (Gums) out of respect for the climbers that inhabit the pines. Things such as our noise level and the amount of room that our group would use were sound reasons that were provided to us. As a climber previous to these trips I understood and respected this arrangement.
THE QUESTION IS has this arrangement been made redundant, am I expecting too much for a group of 20 students to make camp in the gums or is it now kosha for the little buggers to move in so close as to use my tent pegs for their tarps when in the pines. Dont laugh this actually happened to me earlier this year when there were only 8 other tents in the pines and none in the gums.
I am now in the position of being the group leader for the TAFE students and am wondering if i should let them camp in the pines or the gums. Am I right or should I move out of the past?
