Reminds me of tales of that Andy Pollit guy who lived in a caravan at Araps and allegedly subsisted on a daily ration of one block of dairy milk chocolate, a six-pack of beer, and a pack of Winny Blues. Now that's what I call a diet!

Potato flakes, instant soup mix, packet tuna, and olive oil. Eat it before it freezes. ;-)

I've heard from a couple of different sources that peanuts are quite an acidic nut, which means that they hinder the process of flushing lactic acid from tired muscles after climbing. A mate of mine who's a serious martial artist recommends pistacchios as a healthier alternative.

I think olive-oil is a prerequisite for just about any outdoor activity, eating it is like adding nitro to your fuel tank! I keep some in a small Nalgene-type container with squeezy sides, so that you can still get the crystalline olive-oil sludge out when it's frozen.

Beer in summer, whisky or schnapps in winter (use a Tim-Tam as a straw), wine for all the other times.

But then again, I suck at rock climbing, so you'd all be better off taking Jac's advice ;-)
