Thanks for all the advice dudes, some interesting strategies raised. In the end i managed to use a hacksaw blade (without accompany handle) between the bolt and the back of the wall to chop it, then punched the bolt back through the front and got the hold off. Not too much damage to the ply but it did take a while. All other methods - grinding etc were no good given the angle of the wall and the small amount of exposed bolt but i did toy with the idea of using some damp tnt i found lying around underneath the house (youll get that if youve seen that particular episode of lost).
On a related issue as it sounds as a few of us have walls/ experience with them - does anybody do any type of maintenance to stop this or other problems from occuring? Perhaps crc-ing the bolts/ holds from time to time etc?
