Well, since you invite a UK perspective, Gabbro has the best friction :- it's black and rough as guts .The Cuillins of Skye are made of it, along with a couple of other outcroppings elsewhere. Easily the worst friction is slate, it's like climbing, well, slate really. And, for those who've experienced it, here's a phrase to get you remembering "polished limestone " |
