A friend of mine once mentioned that washing chalk off at the end of the session with soap leads to peeling of skin. His solution was to just rinse first then clean his hands throughly much later on to avoid any peelage.
I think this may have partly been his skin type and combination of chalk and soap he used but it might be worth taking 5 mins to look at.
