There are people out there who steal the hangers of bolts, so I guess its no surprise that they would steal the quickdraws as well!

Ive no real experience with leaving gear on routes for extended periods. Is this fairly common on routes like Cobwebs (i.e. trad gear), or is generally only occuring on high end sport routes?

I ask this because I personally would be pretty annoyed if I hiked in somewhere with the intent of on-sighting a particular route, and found on arrival the route fixed with pre-placed gear, and nobody around. I guess a route like Cobwebs would get attempted pretty rarely ground-up.

I suspect this leaving of a trad route fitted with gear would never happen on routes that I have a conceivable chance of on-sighting, so its a bit academic for me.
