I've seen a number of near new Roca ropes (the really cheap ones that are always on sale) with sheath shreaded for about a metre. There are ropes and there are ropes. Testing something in a lab does not represent reality.

Edelrid tend to be a little soft for my liking but this is personal preference. It just means the knots are a little harder to undo and it might go fuzzy a little faster. But compared to mammut, sterling, blue water (the ones I do like) they are very economical so the rate of wear probably evens itself out when it comes to $.

Just replaced the old 50m workhorse with a 60m. Its heavier and may eventually give me the shits having to pull up the extra 10m on every pitch. But then you can just get the axe out.
