I saw Simon Yates' slide night at Uni of Tasmania on Friday night, and found it worthwhile. He ended up talking for about 2 hours (including Q&A at the end). For those that enjoyed his dry english understatement on Denton, you'll find plenty more of the same in the talk. Some cool stories about his days as a dirtbag climber travelling the globe on a shoestring budget.

I'd have to say as a photographer he makes a bloody good author and speaker. That said, the photos are really just there as illustrations for his stories. I suspect he showed the photos that illustrated his point rather than those that are the better shots.

The question and answer session at the end also had its cringeworthy moments, with plenty of questions from (presumably) non-climbers like "When are you going to climb Mt Everest?" and "Why arnt you scared of heights?"
