Sugarloaf is definately the go if you want to introduce the kids to the big stone. Visited a couple of weekends ago with 5 kids aged 4 to 8 and walked up via Wells Cave and returned via the Canyon. We told the girls it was a bush walk otherwise would never have been able to leave Ringwood. Improvised harnesses to belay on the more exposed parts of the trail. The original plan was to finish up on Sugarloaf boulder but by this stage the boys wanted to play cricket.........go figure. Heaps of bouldering on the summit for little tackers, you have to remember you dont need a big rock to have fun when you're only knee high.
I am a bit worried though if I am doing the right thing encouraging my 4 year old down this path. His summiting Sugarloaf follows his recent solo acent of his mates house. Apparently he flashed the crux moves to the roof of the carport before continuing across easier gound to gain the summit ridge which was traversed prior to the decent.
