Yep, Phil, crude but to the point, I agree, even though it was me that stirred up W's fiery response. I thought Wendy's points were great, much better than Boareds oinks. I assume that (Boared) you live in Natimuk as well, and you're having a big stab at poor Wendy, another Natimukian. I personally would be interested to see Wendy's sustainable house set up, good on her.
BTW. we love the debate, we love and appreciate long responses, we all can't go climbing every day so we log on

Can learn a lot from people from these chat forums. I don't know anywhere else where you can come across so much info/cross paths with so many people/pick up new words/phrases etc etc
>I don't think that's a good think. Some huge percentage of our GDP comes from stuff we didg out of the ground. We are rich becuaess we mine. And it takes millions of year to form this stuff in the ground, so when it runs out, we a bit stuck. We're not really that far removed from third world countries in this respect. Our resources are only cheaply available becuase we subsidise them and protect our trade in ways that third world countries (which are often also rich in mineral resources) are prevented from doing by WTO, IMF and world bank. Africa produces lots of stuff, but remains poor whilst multinational companies make a fortune and people in the west are provided with cheap resources athat we use in great excess with none of taking responsibity for the destruction it reaps in other places.
>Rather than looking at sustainable production and innovation we are continuing with dinosaur mining practices because they are quick and easy now. The same people who are upset about mining tend to also be upset about broad acre, chemical intensive farming, urban sprawl, reliance on private road transport, fossil fuels etc. And we tend to have a few ideas about how we can do things differently.
Thanks for the detailed reply Wendy, I've got to do some fee-paying work this arvo, then I'll come bavk to you with my reply!
