A5's idea of a book is quite good. However, it is far more likely that the book would end up being a compilation of anecdotes of the climbers who named the climbs. As previously noted, in the NW Victoria guide it was noted that James Falla and Andrew Corlass used climbing names as a sort of Freudian Couch. Claw weaves words into climbing names and articles into a sometimes crazy but clever kaleidoscope of English prose. Chris Baxter plays with words related to power, religion and sex with all of the subtlety of a bull in a China Shop. Russ Crowe mixes his Scotch College based mastery of English with the shady side of Shakespearian romantic figures. And speaking of Shakespeare brings back thoughts of ex-Geelong Grammar student Andrew Linblade - who whiled away his hours on god foresaken mountains correcting the bards English. And as for Greg Pritchard - well who can forget the black humour of Screamer. I could go on.
