Interesting points of view. I was discussing this with a friend yesterday. A lot of my friends have trekked in Nepal and decided that they would only take what they could carry themselves, rather than making a porter do it. However, then you're depriving someone of maybe their only source of income. So what is the 'right' thing to do? Aaargh, too confusing...
