NSW National Park fees discriminate against solo travellers
CALL TO ACTION

I am asking solo travellers and sympathisers to email or call the National Parks Contact Centre and ask to abolish the newly introduced NSW camping fee structure.
Charging the single / solo traveller more is discriminative as it is knowingly and purposely treating them unfairly compared with couples or families.

NSW National Parks has changed their camping fees and are now charging solo campers the cost of two people. This is not necessary as most campgrounds have individual campsites of varying size and also larger fields that are shared. It is fine to stipulate a different price for a larger site versus camping on the shared space.

For example:
The cost for Cutters Camp in Mebbin NP is now $8 per car + $12.30 for 1 person, it is the same price for two people and only $6 for additional campers. A solo traveller will pay $20.30!
Rummery Park campground in Whian Whian State Conservation Area charges $24.60 to a solo traveller, again, the same as the fee for two people.

In the old system the solo camper already pays more because of the car fee and the pp fee add up to more pp. However at least there was some fairness in that system.

Couldn’t find a sleeping partner last night huh?

Be thankful that they haven’t given over public camping spaces to independent profiteers constantly having them booked out for ‘glamping purposes’, even if unoccupied! ... like they have in Vic.
Not only have they got the sites, but also all the ones closest to facilities, and I’ve seen them rope off the area to force general public to access the facilities from the long way around, effectively making facilities the mainly sole domain of glampers, with joe average being a pariah in tax payer funded national parks.

Hey you bolt choppers, when you gonna cut the glamper mans keep out ropes into tatt, to preserve our access?

Quit your whining and pay up. It's only fair singles subsidise the parks for families, life is much more expensive for us and we need to be able to afford to get out and give ourselves a break!

Nah, commercial perpetrators in Parks Vic endangering climbing and camping access is what’s making me cranky.
Eh hero, presumably you agree with person you’re posting on behalf of?
You really think current sitting pollies give a shit about this issue when they have bigger issues in mind with an upcoming election?

Ha - the problem is the double glazing was an added expense to the act and after dinner, drinks and the rest I was skint.
Bottom line our kids fund the retirement of the singles

As much as possible I intend to fund my own retirement (got to use all the bags of cash I didn't spend on kids for something), and meanwhile I fund their education, so it seems like a fair trade. ;)

Buffalo when I was there recently with family had the 10 or 12 glampers tents corralled in a roped off area, which included the amenities block on 3/4 sides, along with the public picnic tables fireplaces and water tap facility next to the tables fireplaces.

On the PV camp booking site all the glamping sites were prebooked (dint know they were glampers at that stage), and over the time I wqas there half the glamping tents were set up ready to go but not occupied.

General pleb public campsites started in the back blocks beyond the schoolies group area...

PV site says they trialling glamping at other PV places as well.
Looking up the glamper crowd website it seems they are the same ones at the other locations as well.
