use the gri-gri or the ascender as others have said, but make sure you get the good oil on their use before you use them

both systems work well for me at least. i have used the gri-gri on lead as well for moderate single and mulit pict routes and it works quite well indeed. only taken a few falls, but i'm still walking and typipiing (with spelling mistakes). you can modify the gri gri to attach a chest harnes but that beyong my skill.

the ascender system-with chest harness( read sling) works atreat on harder top route setups, it just glides up the rope and if using a fat static rope, when you fall there is no bounce, you just sit-back ...relax...and think about hte moves.

A shame that you cant get to do this in gyms...i doubt ifyou ever will.

the soloist from WREN industries is the best known device for solo-lead, but its kinda expensive i think
