The State Lead Titles are being held at North Walls on the 10th of Feb. It's always a great event so if you're interested come along and have a crack. There are categories to suit all ages and abilities so the odds of scoring some loot are high and the more competitors we have the better an event it is.
I've put some more info in the up coming events section and you can register via Sport Climbing Australia here: https://sportclimbingaustralia.org.au/event-2749710
If you're more of the helping type there is always a need for volunteers (e.g. belaying and judging) to help make the event run seamlessly. You can register your interest via this google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdKR0bwQztJB3qqN4sEEjxMGJ_4yYMlj3-zB1QnduE3ZlWgBA/viewform
Any questions just ask or get in touch with SCV.
Cheers.

For anyone thinking about registering for the State Lead Titles but nervous about jumping in at the deep end there is also a mock competition event on Saturday, 3rd February, at Hardrock Nunawading. The event is organised by Sport Climbing Victoria.
It will be an opportunity to experience competition format and some of the atmosphere of indoor competition sport climbing for those unfamiliar and a bit of a refresher for more experienced individuals needing to get back into the swing of things for the new year. It is also a chance for anyone considering volunteering to help at the State Titles to learn the ropes.
Again registration is available on the Sport Climbing Australia website at:
http://sportclimbingaustralia.org.au/event-2805396
Please note that payment for the mock competition is by cash only ($15) on the door.

Do you have to be a member of Sport Climbing Victoria/Australia to participate in the Mock Event?
Part of the reason I'm asking is why join up to SCV before you 'try the format' to see if it's for you?

Hi Michael,
Yes you do have to be a member of SCV or SCA to participate. The main reason is to ensure that you are covered by the event insurance. State Membership is currently $20 for the year and National Membership is $59 for the same period.
Membership can be obtained here:
http://sportclimbingaustralia.org.au/page-18169
An explanation of the different levels of membership can be found here:
http://sportclimbingaustralia.org.au/join-us
You can also find information on State Membership here:
http://sportclimbingvictoria.com.au/join/membership/
And if you have any further questions you can get in touch with SCV via email at:
secretary@sportclimbingvictoria.com.au
Hope that helps. Cheers, Karl

Thanks Karl, that's great information and all in one place. I found out via the SCV Facebook page last night and joined SCV - I had been intending to join this year anyway.
I hope to be able to participate on Saturday in the Mock Lead Event. I'll register once it is definite.
Thanks again, it will help others too.
Michael

It's a pleasure to help Michael. I'll be at Hardrock on Saturday, in a supporting role. It'll be good to meet you there.
Cheers, Karl
