Dodgy,
I wouldn't muck around. Go to a well known, established and reputable climbing guiding company. It will cost you a bit but will be worth it.
Here are links to two such companies who operate at Mt Arapiles and the Grampians - excellent climbing areas and spectacular scenery, not too far from Melbourne
