I have had my car broken into in Nowra and I had the worst pizza of my life there (both circa 1996).

There was a lovely looking camp spot we found whilst looking for a short cut to the far end of Thompsons - do people brave leaving their camping stuff about there these days?

Thompson's is a surprisingly nice climbing spot (except when overwhelmed by the noise of power boats). The rock is mostly really nice, but slippery nonsense in a few spots. It used to get rather busy, I expect it still does if you aren't climbing there mid week in November as we were.

South Central is dark, dank, ugly and slippery. Cheesedale is much nicer. The Grotto seemed quite ok for the very few times I've been there.

The bit of New Nowra we went to is ok if you go there with realistic expectations. The guide writers got a little excited. It is not "crazy cool rock" or "limestone like pockets". These people need to get out and climb in a few more places! It is however, quite good fun, with some bits like the top half of cafe cruiser wall being really good. There is a lot of manky rock as well though (like the bottom half of cc wall). The Goldmine was also well shaded and totally climbable on quite warm days. There was also some nice camping on the way out there - again, any dramas with leaving your kit set up out there?

The highlight of Nowra though might have to be baby wombats though. Camp at the animal park and you might be lucky enough to have them wandering around camp. Or at least adult ones. And I'm still waiting for those 2 crocodiles to get out and establish a southern colony with global warming.
