I have done a lot of granite bouldering around Melbourne andCoBAW is definitely the best( I have to pedanticly point out that it is Cobaw State Forest and not Cobaws!) So a few paragraphs"....
Cobaw is about an hours drive from my door!(Thornbury) It is a scattering off granite blocks mostly along the ridgeline, to the right of the road outbound, with some isolated blocks on the left and at the t-junction on the far side of the forest.
The rock is the most excellent smooth granite that I have climbed on. Delicious! The probs are technical and fingery with steepness ranging form footpath angle to about 25 degrees over max. There are probably 20-30 established probs up to V11 with potential for many more hard ones . Charlie Creese first found it about 12 years ago then forgot about it then went back at the start of last year and showed it to me and some other melbourne blockers eg. Saunders etc.. I think I know most of the probs but not all the names. Marty seems to have different names for some of the areas and he seems to be keenest for a guide but in the interim someone whos been there is best as they can be tricky to find. Anyway, its well good up there!
PS you need good pads for a lot of the landings
