Hi Banana, a Yahoo group has already been set up and sees a bit of traffic. Paul Hudson advertised it in the recent AMIN newsletter (came out a couple of weeks ago). The URL is:

Agreed that Yahoo groups definitely aren't the best option in many respects, but they're easy for a non-programmer to set up and manage. No one had the time/ability to dedicate to getting anything else up. But you sound like you're keen and have the ability...

Maybe join up on the Yahoo group and see what the current members think? I still reckon that the most important thing is just getting enough people to go to the website and interact. Whatever does that is probably the best option (at least in the short term).
