If you look at that snow cam image, you can click to see that same image at different times, and thus see how much snow has fallen during the day!

Here is the BOM forecast for the Alps for next couple of days
ALPS FORECAST: HEADLINE: Few showers/snow showers.
Cold and windy with a few showers, likely to fall as snow above 1700m, lowering
to 1200m this evening. Fresh to strong west to westerly winds.
UV INDEX: 4 [Moderate]
PROBABILITY OF SNOW: at 1500 m at 1900 m

Comments:
A frontal system in the Tasman Sea is linking with an extensive cloud band over
southeastern Australia, bringing overnight rain to Alpine regions and light
snowfalls about the Alpine peaks. A few showers will persist today in the wake
of the frontal system, with snowfalls likely above 1700m, and down to 1200m this
evening and Friday morning. Westerly winds will be cold and fresh to strong.
Showers and snow are expected to clear sometime Friday, and Saturday and Sunday
are expected to be fine with lighter winds.
Bring it on!

Gold!! The hotlink nazi - no more hotlinking for you!!
I've tried to link to the ski.com.au snowcam inages before but it doesn't work. You will have to go to the individual resort websites and you can pilfer their webcam images.
BOM have forecast for a dusting later this week but unfortunately not enough for much action on the opening weekend.

Well, looks like its really going to come down friday and saturday:
Friday 18th: strong WNW winds (gale force at times), showers early with snow falling above 1600m and lowering to around 1400m later in the day and 1200m overnight, possible heavy snowfalls overnight (15-20cm)
Saturday 19th: strong WNW winds turning WSW (gale force at times), blizzard conditions with widespread heavy snowfalls to around 800m (20-40cm)
Could go skiing in the Grampians for the novelty factor. ;)

Oberon gets snow quite often, I was up there a few years back in November (going caving at Tuglow Caves) and on the drive in there was some snow on the ground. It got so cold over night that the water in our washup bucket, about 1 inch deep completely froze overnight.
