Rappelling stuff ups (multipitch)
1. Rap down the wrong route when going to climb Bellbird. No drama, just steep, and very windy. Go second, clip into hanging belay, make sure partner is pulling correct rope and release ends from belay device. As knotted end He'd put them in) gets blown around arete we both look at each other. Got quite proficient at lassooing.

2. Rap down over Weaselburger with someone who has never done this before. Explain plan. Clip into bolt just below rooflet to stay in. Partner comes down. Start pulling rope. Jams after 15 metres of pulling. Look at partner- you didnt reclip the draw did you??? Have to lead up on our 15m of half rope, then getting back to doubles, prussick for 20m to retrieve draw.
3. Rappelling with Neil
stupid plan a) Doing Weaselburger rap again. A nonclimbing friend is staying at the top so despite my misgvings the plan is to rap on 2 ropes tied together and then the friend will throw them down. Neil obviously has second thoughts after getting to the ground so decides that I should untie the second rope from the first while hanging above it, then tie a loop in end of first rope and he will lower me through a carabiner in this loop, thus making sure one rope reaches ground at least. Untying a weighted knot while hanging above it and then undoing a prussick when below it was great fun. THe day only got better as we failed on Neils project and had the walk of shame back to Mirrorball in the blazing sun which we had to climb with about 5 bolt plates between us.

stupid plan b) see Samarkand trip report- rapping Critical Mass when waterfall blowing over route, and then getting rope stuck in tree, before jungle bash to base of route that has its own rap in. Fortunately the climb out was much more straightforward.
