Moved to sydney last year, and found gumtree useful for second hand furniture and appliances - http://sydney.gumtree.com.au/ Rentals - this can be tough in Sydney, as the rental market is supposed to be quite tight. Probably would be hard to negotiate rent down in the current market. If you have the chance to rent something decent, grab it quickly. Gyms - quite a few around, so will probably depend where you live. Lots of real rock available, which compensates if your local gym isn't outstanding. Whilst in Australia, a trip to Arapiles (mostly trad climbing) would be recommended. Good luck for your move.
