There would be global benefit in a larger proportion of the world's aluminium supply coming from these countries. I think the scenario some posters are concerned about is one where Al production gets pushed out of Australia to places like China which would import Australian coal to power the smelters.

Of course, a future with smaller cars, fewer cars and more bicycles per household, and better public transport would also be one with reduced global demand for Al.
