Not just route names. Town names. Deddick in Gippsland used to be called Dead Dick, cos that's what you had when you got there on horseback.
And don't start me on the German Towns.
On the climbing front. Sunny Gully (at Arapiles) first recorded ascent named it He Wouldn't Know A New Route If It Was Up Him (a reference to a local climber) but Louise didn't find that suitable and gave it the NAF name. |
