I may be in the minority but I feel that the grades at VR, HR and CH are fairly similar. I find HR and CH more technical than VR. VR tends to be reachier or have moves, which are difficult but not very technical. I have found that I can normally climb the same grade at any gym although the number of times I have climbed a new grade for the first time at CH is probably disproportionately high for how often I climb there. That said VR does tend to be fairly inconsistent with a mixture of soft touches and more frequently horrendous sandbags. Because of the different styles at the different gyms it probably depends on your personal strengths and weaknesses.
Maybe I just find them all hard because I have a broad range of weaknesses.

The new bouldering cube at looks OK even if the internal framework didn’t fill me with confidence. I wonder when it will get some problems. I suspect they will need to wait until they get some more crash mats a.k.a. festering mattresses with sharp springs.
