dont blame the farmers or say they are wealthy as they are only getting around $2.00 for bananas . Imports are banned unless they meet the protocols for being disease free which none can as australia is the only country without most of the banana pests . farmers get little of the retail price and they are continually being squeezed by the super markets eg milk 34 to 44 cent a litre retail $1.00 , beef sold, killed , cut up about $5 to 6 a kilo for all the cuts , mince the cheapest sells for $9 , fillets 25 +, compare with bottled water , cost $2.00 a 1,000,000 litres sold for $1.8 million .the big super maarkets forced the coffs area out of the large scale it was by encouraging the huge flat land development in FNQ now they reap extra profits . Prices went up immediately though at least 2 weeks supply had already been dispatched and paid for at less than $1.00 a kilo .
Just thank you lucky stars that you dont have to rely on imported foods, fancy some watery milk with melamine added to give an inflated protein test ? |
