Not really. I am amazed at the thoughtful, well explained, considered responses to your question! As a "long term Chockstone lurker" surely you would have to be impressed at the restraint people are showing?

Seems no one is coming forward. Just because this risk exists does not mean you have to wack bolts in to protect people from it. One aspect of climbing many people enjoy is undertaking challenges such as this and prevailing. People climbing at this grade should generally have enough experience to decide whether they are up for the task or not, and to back off if they aren't up to it.

The fact no one is owning up to spearing into the slab suggests no one has, and therefore no need for your bolt here? Or, if they have, they are not in support of your cause.

I'm not a rabid anti-bolt fanatic. But sounds like your time and energy are best spent elsewhere. Head to the Gramps, and put up a few new routes there (you may have already?!). Super fun.
