If you read the report wind will average 40 to 50% of its rated capacity over the year and on a single site can often drop to zero for periods . With the huge diversity of the wind sites with 50,000 MW all the models suggest that the minimum output from this would be 15% or 7500 Mw . Considering that currently normal consumtion on the eastern states varies from 14000 to 30000 mw daily and the 14000 is in the early hours of the morning and the 30000 when the sun is out so the solar will be producing without the storage avilable in salts . There is large amounts of storage available in hydro at around 80 % efficency and salts will store heat at 98% efficency . All thermal coal plants operate at around the 30 % efficency mark ie 30 % of the energy released from coal is turned into electrical energy .Gas cooking doesnt use huge amount of gas -we use about 80 kg a year (not quite 2 gas bottles )
