Of all the climbs that could be debated for a touch of "sprucing up", Gollum is certainly not one that I would recommend. It gets plenty of ascents... 4 in my very small climbing circle in the last year and a half, and it is a safe lead for those competent in good gear placement. I felt very happy that a fall would have been caught by good gear at all times. I didnt think that any of my gear would have blown. It is true that said fall may have been longer than 1-2 metres, but hey, thats not so bad.

Well done for getting on there and giving it a good run. Remember that just because most of the climbs on the wall are trade routes doesnt mean they all should be. This is just one of an excellent trifecta of 20s on the watchtower faces at varying degrees of boldness. Now that youve done this check out fly lichen eagle as you rap past... climbings OK, gears not awesome but can be sorted to keep things safe (its also very soft at 20). And then you have Take Five... that proved quite exciting. Again, it shouldnt be retroed... as bones said, WotAS is excellent well protected and right next door.
