I'll put my 2c in before all the gear freaks jump in expounding the virtues of brand EXTREME.

My wife and I each bought a K down jacket each 6 years ago and have been quite happy with them. It seems that the women's model is significantly colder than the men's however, which might explain why I seem some women walking around in the slightly less flattering men's model. They do shed some feathers through the inside (eg if you are wearing a dark shirt/jumper underneath) but they do have some degree of water repelency although I doubt you would wear it when it is raining, more light shower. I can't complain for the warmth at $200 or whatever.

That said, some K gear is completely crap, and others I have used in lots of different situations for years and is very durable. So perhaps take my advice with a grain of salt if they have changed the design in the last few years.
