Why does everything on this forum descend into a flame war? Why are climbers so unchilled?

I dont see that ANYONE has criticised the Guide book or the Darrans. Everyone has raved about the place . They have just commented on the guide book flavour:

I dont see that you could argue against the fact that there is often paucity of information around the alpine routes and alpine rock routes and even access to valleys etc. This is no different to any other NZ guidebook and is much the way I prefer things. It was quite fun starting to get to know the area by 'exploring'. It was quite fun climbing a new route on the Sentinel. I dislike climbing in Europe where everything is laid out and well traveled and documented to within an inch of its life. It always becomes easy when you have experienced something once eg finding the tracks to Homer saddle or the traverse to Adelaide saddle etc and it doesnt take too much effort to work out.

You also couldnt argue that the section on the sports crags are outdated. This is due to the rapid development there and no one is complaining about that. The person that told me the book was confusing and outdated with regard to the chasm is one of the major developers there and I was very grateful for an updated topo he sketched.

Also very nice of Boyd and Nick to retrieve my rope and bring it back to OZ. I had left it well jammed in a crack when rain and dark overtook us descending Moirs Mate. May climbing karma visit them in droves. (As well as some beer when I pick it up).
