This is the story of one of the craziest stunts ever done by anyone - anywhere. Two average Australian blokes narate this gripping doco on their expedition to BASE jump from the summit of one the biggest cliff faces in the world, the 2km vertical rock wall of Great Trango Tower in Pakistan. The film is shot on 16mm and is a proffesional slick production with some amazing camera angles. Some of the dialogue is a bit cheesy and staged but in general the story kicks along at a nice rate. After jumping and climbing around Australia the two set off to climb the peak and launch into the great unknown. At high altitude and with an amazing amount of camera gear strapped to their heads they take the most reckless leap of all time off a ledge cut into an overhanging snow bershrund. The footage as they tumble down what appears to be a less than vertical granite wall is mind blowing. For climbers, highlights include a nice section shot on Bluff Mtn in the Warrumbungles and some snow/ice climbing on Trango. This is a vastly better film than its sequel, Base Climb 2 - mainly because Glenn Singleman's wife is not featured!

Outrageous concept and execution; - full marks for adventure!

nmonteith captured the essence well with his review comment re the footage taken while tumbling down the face, ... as it simply takes your breath away. The rest of the film is worth watching for this segment alone.

I too enjoyed the footage shot of their preparation climb on Cornerstone Rib, Crater Bluff in the Warrumbungles; as well as the snow/ice climbing on Trango.

It must still give them adrenaline each time Nic & Glenn re-watch this production ...

The final jump is the best base jumping footage I've seen. You really get a sense of the craziness of it all. The best thing is his tumbling through the air, which looks like two metres from the face, and I don't think it was deliberate.

Nice footage of them climbing the Cornerstone Rib.

More on the mountaineering would have been good.

Get this video. It makes me want to jump off a cliff.
