A cheeky if not precocious grin.
Good to see the kid out there and wearing a helmet.
Would’ve given another star if on lead , but that’s obviously coming.
Wonder what gnaguts would say about the pic , given the previous
conversation he had about kids ability?

Ps Imaguessing he is lighter than leader , so hope he is suitably
anchored for upward load belaying. |

Kai loves multi pitch trad adventures and has been climbing all his life. The
grin does say it all. Don't worry about the belaying. Though I do let Kai
belay me on routes that are well below my limit, when he does he is secure.
On this route however I was belayed by another adult not in shot.
BTW you are Gnaguts aren't you Jayford?

Cheers Miguel. And I hope your kids develop an interest. I get so much joy
from sharing all these golden moments with my boy and his Mum. Just got
in from another day climbing with him. 3 of the last 4. |

that is a cool photo.
especially cos its evidence of the kid taking the sharp end and seconding a
traverse on the rope with no runners. Meanwhile the pussy adult sticks
around on the ledge below pretending his self preservation instincts are
altruistic cos he's saving the kid from taking out runners on a traverse. |

Thanks Stugang.
Kai is a very confident climber and I knew he
would be fine seconding on the relatively easy short traverse so I
didn't clip his rope (yellow) into the gear. He had no back rope.
Next up however was his friend Seb who is less experienced in
situations like this being only 7! Seb was tied in halfway along the
blue rope and his father also had him on a loose belay from below.
When it came to the traverse he unclipped from the runners in
front of him and reclipped them behind to help protect his dad and
also to reduce his own chance of a pretty safe but maybe
unsettling pendulum into the corner. It was an excellent adventure
and we topped out on a stunning sunset. |

Too right bigchris. He does love it. Though he can get a bit upset with
himself as he did yesterday at Camels Hump. Though we all thought he
climbed brilliantly he fell short of his own big expectations and it
overwhelmed him a bit. Being 11 though, he was soon laughing and fooling
around again as we all squirmed around in the caves behind Omega Block.

Thanks DD. Kai does lead but I don't have many shots of him worthy of
posting apart from one's that would provoke irresponsible parenting
comments. Here's an old one of him 2 years ago (age 9) onsight leading,
and placing his own gear, on the second pitch of a relatively easy route
on a trip to the UK to visit family and friends.
