The newposts links use the anchor mark #newpost. The pages generated use #NewPost as the anchor mark. This works as intended in IE but not in firefox. I'm not sure about opera or chrome.

Viewing in Chrome now. On the front page, newpost and markall are working fine.

When you click on a link into a thread does the resulting page scroll down to the oldest unread post?
For me at the moment, this link (the top 10 stuff) doesn't scroll:
http://www.chockstone.org/Forum/Forum.asp?Action=DisplayTopic&ForumID=1&MessageID=72767&Replies=42&MsgPagePos=-1#newpost
This one does:
http://www.chockstone.org/Forum/Forum.asp?Action=DisplayTopic&ForumID=1&MessageID=72767&Replies=42&MsgPagePos=-1#NewPost
The "There is x new posts in this topic" link is also uses lower case and doesn't scroll in firefox.
It's difficult to explain because if you click "Mark all as read" then the above links won't have the problem anymore (unless someone else posts something in them).

Both of your examples link to the same spot at the bottom of the thread.

So internet explorer, chrome and the nokia phone browser work.
Firefox doesn't.
I'll see what opera does when I get to the office.

Opera also expects the case of an anchor link to match the anchor definition.

test
Loading this link in firefox doesn't scroll to the newposts: http://www.chockstone.org/Forum/Forum.asp?Action=DisplayTopic&ForumID=9&MessageID=1528&Replies=8#newpost
This one does: http://www.chockstone.org/Forum/Forum.asp?Action=DisplayTopic&ForumID=9&MessageID=1528&Replies=8#NewPost
The anchor in the html is NewPost, the one in the links is newpost, only firefox is case sensitive.

If you load a page with new posts in IE or chrome, it will scroll to the new posts. Firefox 3.6.13 doesn't.

Ah, I see the difference now I tried those links.
Yes you are right, so scratch my +1 in the earlier post, as I never knew what I was missing, and only ever relied on new posts being flagged green; though it did take me to the page containing the newest posts when I clicked on 'new posts' at top of screen.

I've also found the problem but it's not confined to Firefox. Using IE 8 "scroll to newest post" works (scrolls to newest post) only if I am logged on and have not clicked "scroll to newest post" in the session before logging on.
If I log off, "scroll to newest post" stops scrolling to the newest post. Then logging back in to the same browser session doesn't restore the functionality.
Its as though there's a session setting that can be turned on once and only once during a session but is not on unless logged in and is turned off by logout.
Bizarre.

Wendy, bin IE, bin Firefox, and go straight to Chrome. Google actually gaurantee that browsing with Chrome will improve your climbing.

Or perhaps wait for the as-yet unwritten browser Innocent Bystander : "Don't look at me, I didn't do anything. You were the one that clicked on that link. Don't blame me for what it did."
