Guys looks as though I am moving to canberra at this stage for a new job, don't know anybody in canberra, just wanting some information on local Climbing Gym's / Locations (where to live) etc, anyone from canberra who is happy to give a climbing brother some information would be greatly appreciated.

Questions I have.
Work Looks like it's Located around the Nth of the City (I think) Allara Street?, Just wondering what suburbs would be close to that and perhaps close to the (best ?) climbing gym in canberra. Thinking somewhere close(ish) to all those area's ?
Ideally i'd like to cycle to work and climbing if possible.

Any information in where to live or even where not to live would be a great help.

It's not happening for at least 2 months so I have plenty of time to plan.

Cheers in advance
Chris

Hi Chris,

Suburbs to the North of the City such as Braddon, Ainslie, O'Connor, Watson, Downer, Hackett, Campell are all 2-20min ride to the city and very close to Mt Ainslie/Mt Majura which have great mountain biking. Suburbs to the south such as Kingston, Manuka, Yarralumbla, etc are ~15-20min ride to the city but are more generally more expensive.

As for gyms. Well there is Mitchell (certainly not up to the standards of gyms I have been to in Sydney) and Aust National Uni Wall which has an old brick featured climbing wall and a more modern wall with some steep overhangs and roofs.
Happy to give more info.
Jono.
