On using up all the volunteers in the peer group, I need to 'blood' some new initiates into the joys of pruning spikey wattle.
Then again perhaps Dave has now forgotten his forays from 2015 and I could just start recycling ..

I might have thought Ozy would still be calling you louder than a donkey bray?
... & if M75 is a no show, maybe pi could use a belay partner for another one day ascent of it?

I have no partner and no plan.

At least one of these is true.

Is anyone leaving from Melbourne/Western suburbs on Friday evening and coming back Sunday evening that would like to share transport?

Unfortunately I'm working again but happy to lend some hooks / daisy / aiders for those that need them.

Thanks for the offer Lightfoot. I'll let others PM you if they need to organise over and above what I can supply.

I have booked / paid for, our Lake Catani campsite...
Weather prediction is fine but cool for the weekend.

Fri 23 / Sat 24 / Sun 25 Nov
Site 31 (for three nights)
Permit Number 7296995
(Check in 1300 hrs / check out 1200 hrs).

Site is legally good for 6 people and one car, with extra cars costing $10 per night, though we have found the local authorities to be quite flexible* in the past on such matters...
(*If there’s any issues with numbers and vehicles they can be sorted once on site.)

Note: Site 31 is located on RHS past school group site that is adjacent the two way road on left, ie just beyond our previous (usual, but unavailable this time), site/s 12/13.

I'm likely attending on my motorcycle, which doesn't count as a car! ... Though a test run of it tomorrow will confirm or not, its usage for next weekend.
(Post edit: Taking my silver/grey VW campervan now. Look for it instead!).

Just so you all know, you should take your winter woolies. It is forecast to snow above 1200m on Thursday and Friday! The weekend looks really nice - cold and sunny.

Returning to the vertical fold, keen to pitch up and participate.
Live local so don’t need to camp.
What time and where?

Generally the semiformal meet and greet happens about 8.30 am Saturday morning over breakfast at the campsite - commandeered nearest communal picnic table to it.
Catani campsite 31 is our location this year.
Meet & greet is partially offset by whoever gathers on Friday night at the campsite!

The agenda for the day is determined by the number of participants involved and their mix of skill / experience / gear and expectations.
Similar on the Sunday morning... though this can also be predetermined somewhat on the Saturday.

Some experienced folk commit to the North Wall with an agenda, while others that may have no, or minimal aid climbing experience, get basic shared experience tutoring during the breakfast session, then head off to suitable sites to practice what was preached!

The agenda is flexible to cater for all levels of ability and it’s a bit of a lottery that depends on the mix of attendees.

I usually accompany the less experienced to loan gear and give tips on its use if required.

At least two of this years attendees have been to previous Aidfests, so are no doubt looking to extend their experience and flesh out their bag of tricks further.

Buffalo lends itself to climbing in small groups because the locations chosen often have a good variety of grade options in close proximity which lends itself to a ‘festival’ atmosphere.

I'm planing to get there Friday arvo, can I crash in my Bivy sack on your site Friday night M9? Will pitch in $ for camp fee. My plan is to camp on the north wall Saturday night then head off Sunday morning. Looking forward to catching up.

What? Not ‘glamping’ then?? Heh, heh, heh.
Yep, no worries, and will be good to catch up again.

Hey mate, we are a group of three coming up the mount this weekend with some aid experience and a d4 trapizium keen to get in on the action. What’s the campsite space looking like at the moment? Room for us? Otherwise know anyone with room? Will see you up there regardless, have a good one and hoping the weather report stays good.

The more the merrier, as meeting kindred spirits in the aid game is part of why the Aidfest originated.

Unusually on this occasion, there hasn't been a lot of confirmation regarding arrival time/s happening on this thread re our Site 31 that we have secured for 3 nights, but being kindred spirits we are always happy to share a bit of dirt space for like minded individuals as climbers aren't too fussed by bivvying out*, unlike some authorities can be?
There were other sites available when I booked online, but none for consecutive nights, and at that time it seemed most sites were pre-booked for Saturday night...
(*There is often some other short term options available ;-) ... along with the fact that wall camping is free!).

Sorry M9, I decided to go to Arapiles this time instead as that was more in line with my current goals. However, all my plans are now in tatters due to fracturing my thumb in a MTB accident last night! It requires hand surgery so my own recovery journey begins.

@ climberman, :( ... maybe next year!
@ jkane, ouch! Sorry to hear about the injury, and may your recovery journey be swift... otherwise you might end up being the gfdonc endorsed guidebook recce guru! Heh, heh, heh.

I changed my mind about taking the motorcycle. Look for a grey VW campervan instead... Much easier to take an aid rack with!

I’ve also had a couple of enquiries behind the scene about the Aidfest and confirmed there will be another attendee as a consequence.

Oh, if you can, bring some firewood, otherwise bring your warm winter clothing!

Safe travels, and see you there.

But if they all die there'll be no-one left to climb with - noting my request for a partner has them literally running for the hills.
