Scottish Climber looking for info July 6 - 12

My wife and I are heading to Melbourne for a 3 week holiday and arrive on 5 July. I am getting excused from the shopping, gallery /sightseeing agenda for 4 or 5 days and am hoping to head up to Arapiles to see the place and if possible do some climbing. Aim to be there any time between 6 and 12 July. I will be limited in what I can carry with me but will take my own boots, chalk bag, harness and helmet. I am hoping to tie on with other climbers and also need info on somewhere to stay where I can meet other climbers. Is there a climber's bunkhouse in Natimuk. Mayhire a car in Melbourne unless someone else wants someone to share petrol costs?

I am 58 but quite fit and I climb up to E1/E2 UK or 6b/6c French sports grades and have been climbing, including Scottish Winter mountaineering, for 40 years. I'm not bad company and have never been labelled as 'boring'!

Any advice/suggestions appreciated.

My brother lives nearby and may be around. It is winter, so the pines will be far less busy than in the warmer months, but I would be surprised if you don't find someone to climb with!

Thanks Marty, will probably head up to Natimuk on Saturday 7 July and stay until the Wednesday or Thursday. If your brother or anyone else you know is keen to get out round about then, ask them to post a phone number. I will pick up a local SIM card for my own mobile when I get to Melbourne so don't have a number yet.

Cheers,

Forrest

Don't know how you got on. Sent you a PM with my contact details.

Could be lucky with the weather : showery in Natimuk today and looks like it will stay that way for the next couple of days but improving Sunday.

Hi Kieran, my plans were put on hold due to my cards getting lost on way across. They should be here today so hoping to head up later today or tomorrow until Monday as have to be back in Melbourne on Tuesday. If you or anyone else are going up or will be there, please let me know?
