Hey, I'm coming to Sydney for a work trip in September and I'm considering a trip to Blue Mountains Sep 22-24. Problem is I'll have no partner and I'm unlikely to get a car because of the left side driving. So I was wondering, is it realistic to just take a train to Katoomba, walk to a crag and ask to join someone? If I cannot find anyone online in advance.
I can lead up to 5.10+ YDS on bolts (~19-22?), belay, clean, buy beer :)

Unless you have a partner lined up that wants to climb in Katoomba , the town of Blackheath (mainstreet/carpark 8am-10am) is a more likely place to tentatively approach the obviously clad climbers. There are more crags easily approached on foot there also. My advice would be to give yourself a european girls name , something exotic like Agnetha Fältskog , then a profile pic of you on an easy roof in a bikini , then try facebook pages such as sydney climbers or Blue Mountains Rock Climbing and you will get hundreds of offers. thecrag.com also has potential and is easier to compose said profile. Who knows , I might even be around. Remember , Bikini.
