I agree. It requires someone who has actually reached the top, not someone who has just bumbled about.

Anyway, when are you going to start writing this Carrigan book yourself? I haven't seen much interest shown by those folk you keep mentioning as it's potential authors.

I reckon Mark Moorhead's ascent of Cobwebs in 1981 was more impressive.

RIP Mark Moorhead

Must of been a bit of a wake up call for Kim when Mark did that one ...spurred Kim on to India 29 ish the next year ...in fact Kim graded India 29
because of his quick repeat of Cobwebs .......Claw reckons Cobwebs might be 29 .... Moorhead graded it 26 ... sandbag ? ... or was it those long arms of his ...

I think the harsh reality is, most climbers under the age of thirty haven't got a clue who he is.

You better write the book while all of us that do know who he is are still alive.

Just checked out Simey Carters Rock climbing down under ...

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/life/weekend-australian-magazine/how-simon-carter-gets-to-grips-with-rock-climbing/story-e6frg8h6-1227217581872

.... and theres a nice piece written by Kim Carrigan.... hes still got his lovely-magical writting style ... lots a gritty detail ... within a magical juicy bigger realm ....I want a whole book of that stuff !!! .....

....and I want plenty of classic Kim pics in A4 .... Claws book was too smalll for his pics ... and the steve monks pic in Carters book ( pitch one free route totem pole ) is way too small to show its quality and historic importance...( when seen in A4 this pic is easily in Carters top 10 pics in his carreer ... )

....and i think blurring the edges of the pics in Kims book will be the way to go ....draws u into the magic ....rather than cut and paste photo album type thing ....

Thanks again to Carter and Claw for making the effort to do the books ...

But I reckon the Kim Carrigan BOOK can establish a new benchmark ....

Quote of Simon from the above link.
rock climbing presents a physical and mental challenge, flavoured by risk, that no other sport comes close to. When you’re in the flow on a hard route it’s like a “gymnastic dance”, he says; you’re totally committed, totally in the moment, in command of the rock — and yourself.
“People say climbers must be hooked on adrenalin,” he muses, “but actually I think it’s an addiction to that feeling of mastery.”

... It appears that he is a bit of a wordsmith as well.
