Went into Christmas Walls this afternoon - last cliff on the western side of Arapiles to be checked. Beautiful spot but what a pile! There's a couple of OK looking climbs but it's pretty uninspiring. Some stars had been provisionally doled out but they're coming off - when I think of how good one star climbs at Arapiles are then these climbs do not rate.
Maybe worth a visit when Campbell's Kingdom is busy.
I'll fix up the topo and update the notes later in the weekend then consign this outcrop to my climbing dustbin.

Something of a milestone with the Arapiles pages. Every route at Arapiles is now in in some form with the following special cases :
Pharos, Pharos Gully and Mitre Rock : Climbs that are not in the Mentz/Tempest Select guide are in with full descriptions. Those included in the select guide are mostly just stub entries (name, grade, length). Over time the stub entries will be expanded to full descriptions.
Henry Bolte Wall, High Dive Wall : Climbs are in as stub entries. These need a topo for any descriptions to make sense.
There's still heaps of topos to do.
It seemd more important to get a skeleton of everything in so that people can go to it expecting to find at least some information on any climb they are interested in.
But, everything's there for people to tick ascents, add comments and even (please!) put in the descriptions.

Whoopee-do, I've managed to actually use the Google Maps feature of the site as it was intended. I had believed that it was broken as the only time I have tried to use it (a few months ago) it kept coming up with the worng coordinates. Now it actually works and I've managed to add markers for Campbell's Kingdom and Cyclops Eye.

I've sketched in the various bits of The Fortress in case anyone is interested in wandering around there over Easter. It's still pretty rough with no photos or diagrams. I haven't put in full descriptions of Campbell Mercer's routes on the eastern approach but people should be able to locate them. I need to do a field trip in there. Last time I was there we were in too much of a hurry on the way in and it was way too dark on our way out.
Black Knight buttress is definitely worth a visit with a couple of easy classics and some harder things and Shadow Lands looked good when I wandered through many years ago.
The Fortress really needs to be an crag by itself in the Vic Range rather than a collection of areas under the High Tops designation. Not worth stressing over though.

Looking at the Victoria Range today, The Tower looks to have bad Google Maps coordinates. It shows up way down south in the Vic Valley off Bullawin road instead of up north off Red Rock Road.
Could someone who has change rights to The Tower (and knows where it is) please fix it up.

What grade did Thundercats go at? And where did the topos go?

Just been into Dreamtime Wall today. Just one beef with the ACA guide. Why the heck are the climbs listed right-to-left when you have to approach the climbs from right to left. Such a pain-in-the-neck trying to work things out back-to-front.
** post-edit : I of course meant to say "climbs listed left-right when you approach the climbs from right to left". see Hero's comment below

Sounds like the old Booroomba guidebook, and is even more confusing when the topos are not nearby the descriptions!

"Why the heck are the climbs listed right-to-left when you have to approach the climbs from right to left."

I don't see the problem here. Shirley this is a mistake?

I agree. It makes for terrible usability, especially when its such a big distance between each end.

Harrop Track South. Added all routes for Eagle's Head, Out To Lunch, Tortoise and Death March Walls. I think there's a recentish route at Death March by Mark Wood but I can't find it. Maybe it's in an issue of Rock. No photos yet as I don't have any usable ones.

I was pretty sure those routes were Michael Hamptons.

I'm a bit out of touch with who's done what down there in the last decade or so. I've got to go back sometime and do some field work in the area - when time permits.

I've just been sticking in the Slander Gully climbs and it's obvious that the Grease Nipple block is part of what is now called Curiosity Crag but for some reason has not been included in the write-ups. I think it should be moved into Curiosity with a note on the move left in Slander Gully. I'll also move the other climbs on the north side of the creek that aren't as far up as Mt Pox.
