Hi all,
So, taking the fam with the camper trailer to Flinders Range first week of the school holidays. Kids are 8 and 10.. have done araps and gramps and they loved it.
And the dog is coming.
Coming across from Vic (SW of melb)..
We are needing some bush, wilderness and adventure time.
Keen for any beta in terms of best places to camp, hikes and other adventure nearby.. easy trad routes, etc.. Good easy bouldering.. Things along the way..
We enjoy MTB also.. currently not taking the bikes but if we should then also pls tell my why and where!!
Really appreciate any advice.. I have not been further west than Araps!

Climbing-wise, most of it is in a national park or on properties so the dog will limit you somewhat. Warren Gorge would be good – there’s camping on council land, dogs are allowed (on leash), the crags are next to the road and the climbs are top-ropable. The kids could have a reasonable crack at a few of them. The property north of Warren Gorge, Argadells, has camping, climbing, 4WDing, etc., but I’m not sure about the dog. Up at Wilpena Pound, the camping at Rawnsley Park station is pet-friendly. If you could organise a dog-sitter, the rest of you could nip around the corner and check out Moonarie. Kid’s Cliff (in the new guidebook) is not too far up the track but possibly too far for an 8yo. Ignore the first cliff left of the path (Lower Crag), the rock is rarely tested and the grades are about half the actual difficulty. Apart from climbing, you’ll find plenty to see and do, you just can’t go into the Flinders or Gammon Ranges NPs with the furry friend. The area between the parks, around Blinman, is worth exploring.
