Plenty Gorge will be known by some of those that have been climbing a while... For those climbing for less years or kept away by the gun toting owner of the land, it is a 8 m high basalt quarry with 18 established routes and is a great little spot reasonably close to Melbourne.
The good news is the Plenty Gorge Master Plan lists land acquisition as an aim for that parcel of land currently privately owned, acknowledges climbing as a potential use of the site and is open for comments. Would be great to get climbers and MTBers to fill in the survey supporting establishing MTB trails through the park and that climbing be allowed again in the quarry.

Hopefully the engagement will be more meaningful than NP&WS (NSW) public engagement exercise that they labelled ‘Bang the table’; over such things as a DMP for North Head and climbing of icons like The Fear ... or the Lord Howe Island mob and Balls Pyramid access!
Hmm, how’s that for salubrious name dropping for raising the category of Plenty Gorge?
;-)

I'm hoping so. I have to add that from the start of discussions with them in 2014, it has been positive. So we'll be moving forward with that in mind and on that trajectory :-) A little more on Plenty Gorge can be seen here. https://cliffcare.org.au/eastern-victoria/plenty-gorge-nth-east/
Probably don't need to mention it but hey, that's what I do - Please respect the closures/ban in place.
