Hi,
Anyone have any input on route descriptions or any information about Mt Frederick in the central Grampians? There are route names on thecrag but haven't seen anything else.
thanks.

You'ld have to get hold of Baxter's South-East Grampians Guide. It's big but the stories I've heard of it haven't encouraged me to go in. Phil Armstrong may know something more. I think he had a dirt belay ledge collapse on Gotterdamerung, but I may be confusing it with something else.

Thanks, I have that one, although I haven't reread the Mt Frederick section lately.
I'm hoping someone with more recent info will chip in.

I was looking up at it on the drive past on Saturday morning thinking I should finally get up there for a climb. I think Geoff G might have done Resurrection. Otherwise track down Gordon Talbett in Ballarat.

Is Mt Lang not the one where the belay ledge disappeared and the party were left hanging on a single hex?

I was in there maybe 10 years ago. Made a direct version of the big old corner. This involved removing the teetering half cubic meter of block that we wedged in the crack (yes Wide), which the old route avoided... then we led a new pitch out the over hung wall directly above. This was all a sketchy grade 19 I guess.
We then proceeded to grope our way down the hill in inky blackness with no torches, resigned to sleeping in the sword grass, we awoke to a car driving down the central grampians road only 10 meters from where we lay... yes, we gave up and bivvied tem meters from the road, 100m from the car.
The climbing character is much like Mount Abrupt. We thought that given it was kind of near to Green Gap Pinnacle it might have some good stone, but alas... proud lines on average rock. Over the back on the other hand is a wall comparable to Eureka Walls but maybe a 2hr hike up over Frederick and beyond. Visible from Green Gap and Frederick... anyone been there?

Probably Noddy. This may be where Dynamo Hum is ("East (left facing the cliff) of Green Gap Pinnacle is a cliff with a long arete forming it's left edge.")
